Store Operations Analyst

Reports To: Sr. Operations Analyst

As a key member of the Internal Operations team for Dick’s Sporting Goods the Operations Business Analyst will provide research, analysis, and support for identifying, evaluating, and resolving strategic opportunities. Own and manage small projects or parts of larger initiatives, including identification of key issues, work planning analysis, development of conclusions, and presentation of findings.
Duties: Qualitative and quantitative analyses include:
  • Competitive dynamics and benchmarking
  • Customer behavior
  • Retail trends
  • Key drivers of financial performance Other duties include:
  • Help in managing outside vendors
  • Prepare presentation documents and assist in presenting findings to all levels of management
  • Serve as a liaison with functional teams (merchandising, planning, design, consumer insights) on behalf of Internal Operations
  • Work with others to bring form / structure to ambiguous situations


  • Analytics/Problem Solving 

  • High-degree of facility with research sources, modeling techniques, and presentation approaches
  • Demonstrated hypothesis-driven problem solving orientation with exceptional ability to create grounded and structured analyses from disparate sources of information
  • Ability to work in the details without losing sight of the big picture
  • Experience in industry and competitive analysis, modeling, and financial analysis

  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently
  • Ability to take direction and maximize opportunities within assigned role on larger teams
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint

    Experience

  • 2 years of work experience, preferably from a management consultancy and / or investment bank or from the strategy group of a Fortune 500 retailer or consumer products company

    Minimum Education:

  • BA / BS degree required
