Turning possibilities into reality
It’s one thing to make pledges and promises. It’s something else to come through when it counts and make tangible progress towards greater diversity, equity and inclusion. Our people consistently deliver real life-changing results.
DRIVING CHANGE TOGETHER
At DICK’S, our people aren’t sitting on the bench. They’re in the game and being the change they want to see happen. They’re furthering initiatives and driving our efforts to bring about genuine advancements in diversity, equity and inclusion.

Diversity, equity & Inclusion council
Guiding our organization’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion journey, this is a cross-functional team ranging from individual contributors to senior leaders. They’re focused on shaping our strategy, driving our work forward and acting as the voice of our teammates.

Courtside Team
Our Courtside Team offers all teammates across the organization an opportunity to personally get involved with our inclusion journey by bringing our DE&I strategy to life for all our 50,000 teammates. This could involve anything from leading a dialogue circle at their store or DC to building a celebration board for major moments like Black History Month to identifying local partnerships or giving opportunities that align with our DE&I strategy.

Dialogue Circles
Whether conducted virtually or locally, Dialogue Circles provide our teammates with a safe space for hard conversations on race, gender, religion and more. Each circle enables teammates to connect across differences, lean in and move forward in their DE&I journey at their own pace.

OUR JOURNEY IS JUST BEGINNING
We’re proud of what we’ve achieved toward greater diversity, equity and inclusion. We also recognize that there is still much to be done. See the accomplishments we’ve already made as well as our plans for the future.

We established The DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation in 2014 with a mission to inspire and enable sports participation, particularly among under-resourced and underrepresented populations.

We expanded our campus diversity efforts through national partnerships, including CodePath.org, and GraceHopper.

We became a corporate partner of Disability:IN to advocate for and achieve disability inclusion and equality.

We celebrated key moments such as the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Black History Month, Women's History Month, International Women’s Day, Hispanic Heritage Month, PRIDE and Veterans Day with special events for teammates, storytelling on our social media channels from those who have lived experiences and are doing phenomenal work in their spaces, and meaningful and informative conversations to further our collective understanding and learning.

On Zero Discrimination Day, March 1, 2021, we strengthened our zero-tolerance stance with the announcement of our new partnership with Open to All.

In 2019, we signed the CEO Action letter for DE&I and initiated our in-house DE&I council.

In June of 2020, we began “Bringing Inclusion to Life”, our expanded enterprise-wide inclusion training to ensure that 100% of our teammates, including stores, DC and CSC teammates went through a learning and development experience.

In 2021, DICK’S and The DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation became a founding corporate partner to Black Coaches United. We also invested $12.5 million in the Black Economic Development Fund to fuel minority lenders and anchor institutions and businesses as part of an effort to close the racial wealth gap. DICK’S was the first sports-related company to support the Fund.

In 2021, we became the Official Sporting Goods Retail Partner of the WNBA, further solidifying our commitment and support of women and girls in sports.

We established internal representation goals for 2025 to further diversify our team and reflect the communities we serve.

We launched the Teammate Relief Fund (TRF), a program that will support teammates when they need it most.

We scored a 95 (out of a possible 100) on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index, an increase in our score for the fourth consecutive year.
ADVANCING INCLUSION THROUGH OUR PRODUCTS
We bring positive purpose to the products we make and sell. Our initiatives are focused across three core product areas:
Entrepreneurial ventures we are working with to broaden our base of suppliers and provide innovative products and services to our customers
SOME EXAMPLES OF HOW THIS COMES TO LIFE:
Advancing body inclusivity through inclusive sizing and store displays that enable customers of all types to find products that feel and look good
Showcasing brand partners such as Vans, Hurley and Teva that help advance LGBTQ+ causes
Promoting Black History Month offerings from such brands as adidas, New Balance and The North Face
Working with new businesses such as Solely Fit – a Black woman-owned business that offers fitness wear or Moolah Kicks, which creates basketball shoes that are built by and for female ballers.
Through our Supplier Diversity Program, we offer diverse owned and operated suppliers the opportunity to provide our company with products or services that can serve our athletes and our communities.
