Accountable for a specific category of business, the eCommerce Content Generalist is responsible for product creation and display on the website in order to drive traffic, conversion and revenue while maintaining a brand voice. He/she works with their Buying and Site Merchandising teams and uses individual initiative to identify and understand assortments/key products, and manages relationships with vendors to obtain product details (specs, images, videos, etc.) to create a best-in-class web presentation. The Content Generalist also gathers and completes product attribution to drive product finding methods that result in higher conversion and revenue.
The eCommerce Content Generalist implements and maintains style guides in order to write original web content that is consistent with the brand, and edit/load imagery that showcase the product in the best light. He/she will collaborate with the SEO team to review business results, discuss initiatives and ensure content is optimized with SEO best practices that result in favorable search engine rankings and drive traffic to our site.
Additional responsibilities include reacting to Legal call-outs with immediate product maintenance to ensure compliance, thorough cross-functional communication with internal and external partners, competitive analyses, understanding industry trends, analyzing reporting to make site improvements and executing company and department-wide strategies and projects.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Product Content Creation
Drive sales and conversion for a category of business through product creation and maintenance
Manage internal and external relationships with key partners to gather product information (details, images, attribution, etc.) in a deadline driven environment
Efficiently write original web-optimized product descriptions to drive online sales
Obtain, edit and determine image presentation to represent product thoroughly and accurately
Complete product attribution to drive online merchandising
Communicate cross-functionally to understand and execute company strategies
Apply business knowledge to identify and understand assortments and prioritize key initiatives
Apply and maintain style guides to ensure consistent product presentation within category
Partner with SEO team to implement SEO best practices, and review business results and upcoming initiatives to support category of business
Delegate tasks to additional resources to support product creation/projects when applicable
Become category expert to address any needs that arise within that category
Interpret how company strategies and changes impact category of business/direct responsibilities
Utilize business knowledge and reporting to prioritize workload and projects accordingly
Action content-related customer service issues and incorporate customer feedback to improve and enhance web experience
Identify product page enhancements (size charts, tech specs, videos, etc.) to aid in customer buying decision
Analyze internal reporting to determine projects that will drive revenue and conversion
Perform competitive analyses to maintain knowledge of current industry trends
Troubleshoot systematic and style creation issues to ensure proper display of content on the website
Evaluate internal workflow processes, identify opportunities and present suggestions for improvements
Possess thorough understanding of internal tools and how actions taken within translate to website
Ability to adapt to new processes, systems and strategies as eCommerce needs evolve
Participate as subject matter expert within various content disciplines to drive process improvements
Train and present processes, concepts and results to various levels of the organization
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Basic understanding of HTML principles
Web-based software and Content Management System experience a plus
Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and Access
