What You’ll Do In This Role
***The day-to-day of this role is remote, however, this position will require occasional travel to store locations in the Pittsburgh, PA market to conduct in-store experimentation, so candidates must be local to the area.
We are looking for a talented UX Designer to join the newly formed Retail Innovation Product Team and help shape the strategy for disrupting retail through groundbreaking technology in our stores. As a UX Designer you will be part of a balanced product team of Product Managers & engineers, focusing on formulating proof of concepts focused on disruption of retail and how DICK’S Sporting Goods can improve the lives and efficiency of our store employees (who we call Teammates). You will be empowered to research and solve problems affecting our Teammates, most of which have never explored before in the company or even in the retail industry. In addition, you will be responsible for driving lean product methodologies, running experiments, determining the MVP, executing designs and continually iterating on new products through continuous discovery.
This role will also help increase the innovative culture at DICK’S and may help facilitate ideation sessions with other product teams. To be successful, a candidate should be adaptable to change, strong in developing measurable, KPI-driven experiments, comfortable presenting to all levels of leadership on highly visible initiatives, and exhibit the passion necessary to bring new ideas to life.
The UX Designer will work in a fast-paced agile environment, collaborating closely with product managers and software engineers. He / She will gather data insights to formulate strategic design decisions during all phases of the product development life cycle.
The UX Designer will learn from senior-level designers, who will provide regular coaching and mentorship to develop his / her skills in research and design. It is expected that the UX Designer will be able to effectively balance applying creative ideation to business challenges in order to build intuitive, easy-to-use products.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Develops skills in gathering data insights to create customer profiles, define customer journeys, and build out information architecture.

Conducts usability testing, survey designs, user interviews, data analysis, heuristic evaluations, exploratory research methods, and other modern research practices.

Analyzes research data and articulates findings through effective storytelling amongst design and business partners.

Works closely with UX leadership in utilizing industry standard design tools to create user interfaces, customer interactions, and interactive prototypes.

Continuously improves UI design skills and contributes to establishing and maintaining style guides and pattern libraries.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Must have a digital portfolio that demonstrates user-centered research and design practices.

Must provide at least 2 references who can tell us about the candidates awesome UX skills.
