Description
At DICK’S Sporting Goods, interns have the opportunity to work with and learn from the leaders of a growing Fortune 400 company. The Sustainability team works cross functionally to guide and develop ESG initiatives for The DICK’S Sporting Goods’ enterprise. The team drives DICK’S to become great stewards of the environment and promote sustainable practices while engaging stakeholders.
Over the course of this 11-week internship program, the Corporate Sustainability Intern will get hands-on experience and learn about facets of corporate sustainability in the retail industry through a creative, dynamic work environment.

How to coordinate environmental/sustainability initiatives with multiple divisions as needed

Tools and skills for conducting effective research and analysis

The ins-and-outs of DICK’S Sporting Goods’ business strategies and the ESG industry

What you’ll do:

Own and develop an end of semester intern project
-
Benchmark and analyze customer facing sustainability trends in retail
-
Research and identify best practices to support our product goals using ESG data
-
Participate in brainstorm meetings and the overall preparation of deliverables and reports
-
Provide administrative support as needed
-
Perform special projects and miscellaneous duties as assigned

Multi day intern orientation to introduce you to the company, the program, Pittsburgh, and your classmates

Professional development workshops designed to increase your knowledge of the company and the retail industry, as well as develop your business acumen and office professionalism

Working a 40-hour work week, Monday – Friday
What we’re looking for
Qualifications
Skills we are looking for:

Strong verbal communication skills to read and write reports, as well as communicate cross-functionally and vertically throughout the organization

Ability to assist with projects and research on sustainable material attributes in relation to their overall emissions impact
-
Ability to support sustainability strategy development
-
Knowledge of ESG standards, reporting, and frameworks such as CDP, SASB, and GRI
-
Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
-
Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
-
Eagerness to learn and work as part of a multidisciplinary team
-
Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible manner
-
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

Graduation date of December 2023 or Spring 2024

Preferred majors in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Climate Policy, Sustainable Studies, Biomaterials, Business or a related field
