OVERVIEW:
We’re seeking a Bike & Snow Technical Lead and Mechanic expert to create a premium customer experience through technical setup work and repair, as well as selling through customer engagement live and in person. This position requires a deep knowledge of bikes across all categories—and I mean Bicycles not Hogs friends #SorryNotSorry.The Bike & Snow Lead should have a passion for and expert technical knowledge of all bicycle parts, ski and snowboard parts, compatibility, etc. They should have strong written and verbal communication skills along with basic computer skills. We like to communicate in a friendly and effective manner here, so it helps to have some friendliness and a pocket full of rainbows. Also, a willingness and ability toteach others and work in a collaborative, team environment. There’s no “I” in team, but there is a “me”, which is way better.
Seasonal travel is potentially required to Moosejaw shops, as well as our competitor shops, industry shows and vendor line showings.
Essential Functions
An individual must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this position with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Bike:
- Expert Bicycle Mechanic: Must have the knowledge, experience and skill to efficiently build a wide range of high-end road, mountain and gravel bikes from the best brands in the industry.
- Bike Builds: Will perform all new bike builds and re-pack for safe transport as needed. Will assess needs, fit, and make adjustments prior to shipping or delivery to customers.
- Repair and Service: Will assess and perform all in-store and ecommerce repairs and service on a tight time line.
- You will be the primary reference and expert for our Customer Service team and customer base on any and all escalated issues and questions.
- Training our Customer Service and Store teams on the finer points of servicing and selling some of the best bikes in the world
- Bike Receiving and Shipping Support: Provide training and support to warehouse team to ensure accurate receiving of technical bike products, picking and packing of related bicycle and component orders and all bicycle builds.
Snow:
- Expert Ski & Snowboard Technician: Must have the knowledge, experience and skill to efficiently tune and tech a wide range of skis, snowboards, and connected equipment including boots.
- Ski Binding Mounting: Will perform the mounting process to proper spec for skis and snowboards. Vendor certification must be compliant and up-to-date before service work may begin.
- You will be the primary reference and expert for our Customer Service team and customer base on any and all escalated issues and questions.
- Training our Customer Service and Store teams on the finer points of servicing and selling some of the best skis and snowboards in the world.
General:
- Excellent Organization and Time Management Skills: This is an extremely demanding position in high- growth department for a retailer that has significant growth goals for over the next year and beyond.
- Packaging and Shipping Support: Collaborate with Warehouse and Shop employees to ensure all bikes and bike part orders are packed and shipped appropriately and free of any damages.
- You will work with the respective vendor community to build relationships and gain further buy-in to our strategy and focus on the bike, ski, and snowboard categories in partnership with category management leadership.
Travel
- Traveling is necessary to perform one or more essential functions of this position.
Entry Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a mechanic/tech in a premium bike shop and/or a ski shop with an active tune program.
