OVERVIEW:
At Dick’s Sporting Goods, the Senior Portfolio Manager role is critical in delivering success for our athletes and teammates and will help to enable and deliver next generation retail technology! This role can be focused on enabling our Enterprise Portfolio Management function in support of a number of exciting and innovative areas including Ecommerce, Marketing, Omni-channel, Merchandising and Pricing, Supply Chain, Corporate Systems, Security and Infrastructure, Platform Engineering, Architecture, and others! The Senior Portfolio Manager leads the planning, oversight, and coordination of all portfolios within or across multiple domain area and facilitates cross domain alignment and coordination as needed. Partners with product managers and others on intake and demand planning. Engages all disciplines across the technology team to facilitate capacity planning and alignment of capacity to demand through planning, prioritization, sequencing of work, and dependency mapping. Utilizes defined practices, tools, and deliverables to track and report on the overall health and progress of delivery against portfolio plans and goals. Ownership for maturing multiple practices, deliverables and/or tools within the portfolio practice. Also acts as a mentor and coach to portfolio managers.
Portfolio Management
Engage with technology and business stakeholders to develop and understand the overall technology portfolio roadmap, its health, and align recommendations for optimization and effective delivery.
Drive portfolio alignment across key strategic technology investments ensuring aligned delivery of key benefit milestones, effective resolution and escalation of unresolved issues and risks, and continued senior leadership engagement in strategic decision making.
Initiate and lead the governance and delivery of portfolio outcomes within a broad area of responsibility, using appropriate portfolio management methodologies to give assurance that intended outcomes are identified and achieved
Support the Portfolio practice by contributing to the development and implementation of key planning cadences such as Annual Planning and Quarterly Planning inclusive of dependency management, capacity planning, and issue/risk management.
Act as a strategic thought leader by bringing actionable insights and trends as opposed to after the fact reporting.
Specify and lead the delivery of portfolio sync and review processes to ensure that stakeholders can evaluate progress against plans and agree on changes to strategy and delivery at appropriate points.
Ensure that risks, issues, dependencies, and constraints are managed appropriately across the enterprise and domain portfolios. Where risks or issues threaten delivery of commitments within the portfolios, assist with developing and guiding the activation of resolution or mitigation plans.
Use structured change management methodologies are in place to drive acceptance of change and to embed desired culture and behaviors.
Develop and implement stakeholder engagement strategies and plans across multiple portfolios and domains to identify relevant stakeholders to create mutually supportive working relationships.
Lean Portfolio Practice Development
Enable operational excellence and decentralized portfolio and program decision making through a solid understanding and practice background in Lean Portfolio Management and Scaled Agile Frameworks.
Partner with Portfolio, Product, Program, and Agile Practice partners to refine and implement ongoing portfolio planning cadences in support of Annual Planning & Quarterly Planning.
Collaborate with portfolio and other practice partners to continue to define and implement standard portfolio reporting packages in support of aligned, timely decision making.
Develop and refine key communication and reporting cadences and tooling to minimize redundancy and optimize timely delivery of key information to stakeholders to enable efficient decision making in alignment with overall operational model rollout.
Support Product, Program and Agile practices as a Lean Portfolio Management and RTE SME to sure continued alignment of Portfolio objectives across the organization.
Talent Development
Build the LPM practice and continuously evolve team process standards to drive quality and efficiencies
Coach and ensure all teammates are getting the training and education needed to develop professionally
Ongoing Learning and Development
Act as subject matter expert in an area of technology, policy, regulation, or operational management for the team and beyond in the function. Maintain external accreditations and in-depth understanding of current and emerging technologies, external regulation, and industry best practices through continuing professional development, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.

Review existing operations in own area of work and implement innovation processes to generate new ideas and ensure continuous improvements are delivered.

Define the execution plan to disseminate innovative capabilities across the businesses, helping people develop these competencies and enabling them to innovate through solutions such as idea generation platforms, jam sessions, and hackathons.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in organizational development, Organizational Behavior, or Industrial/Organizational Psychology
Professional Licenses: All Preferred, not Required: Agile/Scrum Certification, PMI, PgMP, PfMP Certification, Scaled Agile RTE Certification, Scaled Agile LPM Certification, Scaled Agile SPC Certification
7-10 years of relevant work experience, with 2-4 years of experience in a retail and eCommerce environment
Experience translating ideas, approaches, and dependencies between technical and functional team members
2-4 years of experience with agile development and deployment practices, agile-based tools and practices
Experience and knowledge in portfolio management best practices, principles, methodologies and tools
Experience managing alignment across programs, projects or product teams in an enterprise environment
Experience managing strategic vendor relationships or acting as the primary point of contact for strategic partnerships
Proficient in the planning and execution of programs and projects and risk mitigation strategies
Proficient in portfolio management execution in a modern software environment via multiple methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, etc.)
Experience with lean portfolio management
Experience working in or with a product and design teams
Experience communicating portfolio status, risks, issues, and needs to senior leaders, and managing up
Proficient in mentoring and coaching growing team members in a professional setting
Strong communication and presentation skills
Proficient in effective troubleshooting and issue resolution techniques
Ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences
Strong Experience using Microsoft Office tools (Project, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project)
Strong partnering skills by building effective relationships with business leaders along with the ability to deliver executive-level presentations, briefings, and summaries.
Preferred experience with planning/road mapping tools like Aha! and Monday.com and Jira Align
Good Knowledge of Retail & Supply Chain
PMI & Scaled Agile Certifications
Exposure to a CI/CD toolchain
Understanding of modern microservice-based architectures and methodologies
OCM or Change Management Professional Certification
Experience with Agile Development and knowledge on Agile Deployment practices
