Overview

Welcome to Product Management at DICK’S Sporting Goods, where we specialize in delivering retail excellence along every aspect of the customer journey.

Our mission focuses on crafting intuitive, easy-to-use products that span across our business. We are looking for a new team member who can bring product-market viability ideas that inspire, innovate and deliver elevated experiences for our customers and products.

The Senior Product Manager, Digital Fraud & Loss Prevention sits within our Cyber Security and Tech Ops Portfolio and is responsible for leading the product strategy for several products and solutions at Dick’s Sporting Goods. Some of the work is focused on the implementation of commercial products from third-party partners and some of the work involves developing products and solutions in-house. This role focuses on delivering customer value, and business outcomes through continuous improvement and delivery of quality products. Managing an enterprise product portfolio requires you to work cross-functionally, communicate up and down the organization, and work closely with your developers, designers, and partners. In this role, you will solve problems and deliver incremental value to the business by delivering technology solutions to reduce fraud, reduce shrink, increase sales, & prevent loss for the business. Though the majority of this role’s focus will be on combating digital fraud, we are in the process of rethinking how we identify and respond to shrink in our retail stores and want this role to lead an effort, working closely with our business team, to evaluate new, AI-driven commercial solutions for retail loss prevention.

As a Senior Product Manager, you will work closely with other product managers, product designers, product analysts, software engineers, and stakeholders to deliver innovative products and services that align to strategic priorities as well as achieve product-market fit. You will be viewed as a leader within the organization and be expected to deliver high-quality products through the following:

Product Vision & Strategy

The very essence of being a product manager is having a solid foundation to build upon. In this role, you will blend innovation, strategy and execution to deliver top-notch experiences to customers. You will define and establish a comprehensive vision, strategy and roadmap for your product within a modern development environment.

Product Outcomes

Be the “voice of the product” empathizing with customers and stakeholders! As a Senior Product Manager, you will set goals based on outcomes and measure progress towards those goals as well as alignment back to the business. That data then informs future product iterations and prioritization within your roadmap.

Stakeholder Enablement

Bringing cohesion and coordination to domain level initiatives by blending strategy and tactics to achieve business results is essential in this role. You will interact with all functional areas of the company including product design, software engineering, leadership and portfolio stakeholder groups.

Product-Market Fit & Go-to-Market Strategies

You will develop compelling arguments for your product success in the market as well as launch strategies that are inclusive of ramp up, marketing and adoption strategies.

Delivery

Part of the job is to manage the backlog. You will create effective user stories as well as lead backlog prioritization and management; performing testing of product features with engineers to ensure acceptance criteria is met, capture bugs and work towards defect resolution.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • 80% of your time will focus on building and implementing solutions for combating digital fraud, including working closely with our payment platform vendors.

  • 20% of your time will focus on identifying technology solutions for monitoring retail theft using AI-driven platforms from commercial vendors.

  • Product managers are required to identify and interview a minimum of three customers per week, which can be internal users or external customers, depending on the solution.

  • All product planning is based on measuring business outcomes not engineering output so product managers are expected to identify, implement, and track key metrics and results in support of our product-level outcomes and work closely with the engineering team to optimize the product backlog, on a weekly basis, to reach our desired outcomes.

  • You will be expected to study and keep up-to-date on all relevant digital fraud tactics and solutions, including industry trends and new technology vendors, and then serve as an advocate across the business for awareness and taking advantage of opportunities to improve.

  • You will be expected to build relationships with our existing payment, fraud prevention, and loss prevention vendors and help us make sure we’re maximizing our use of their technologies.

  • A large part of your job will be intended to maximize the effectiveness of our software engineers by providing them with the information, prioritization, and business rationale they need to work most effectively. Product managers focus on the WHAT and the WHY and engineers focus on the HOW.
